Whiteland Double Header Weekend IKC #6

The IKC race #6 & 7 was this past weekend. I got a lot of seat time in last weekend before the races which helped. I had previously raced both layouts which also helped.

On Saturday in my 206 I felt good. I was 5th fastest in practice and qualified 5th. The field was super tight and I felt confident going into the heat race. We made a gear change and unfortunately had an issue with the chain guard that we discovered on the grid of the start. Thank you to all the teams and that swarmed in to lift my kart up to try to get it fixed before the start of the race. It just wasn’t enough time to get it fixed and I headed back to the garage to make it right before the final. I had to start at the rear of the field (#13th). I drove my way through the field to finish 7th.

In my KA qualified 8th out of 10. I felt good but still need to tweak some of my driving. I am still working hard to get better in my KA. For the heat race, I finished 8th, maintaining my start position. For the final, I had a good start and made my way up to the top 5. I over drove one turn midway through the race and got sideways and loose which put me back to the rear. I drove my way back and caught back up to my teammate Lucian and was able to overtake him and finish 9th.
